Her Excellency Mona Al Marri stressed that the UAE has made significant progress over the past 50 years in improving the status of women in the country and is now considered a leading example in supporting and empowering women, both regionally and globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her Excellency highlighted that the UAE\u2019s approach to gender balance stems from the country\u2019s keenness to honour its international commitments and to build long-lasting partnerships with international organizations and governments. This emphasis on global collaboration has led to demonstrable successes including in the UAE\u2019s rapid rise in global competitiveness reports and indicators measuring gender equality. The UAE is the regional leader in multiple respected international reports including the UNDP Gender Inequality Index and the World Bank\u2019s Women, Business, and the Law Report. These achievements support the nation\u2019s centennial vision to foster a global culture of knowledge sharing and to make the UAE a global leader across indicators, reports, and in key action areas such as sustainable development and gender equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Building Relationships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Her Excellency said that the UAE has had measurable success in driving the gender balance agenda in 50 short years because the government has prioritized this agenda, speaks as one team with one unified message, and values partnerships to advance equality. \u201cThe overall success of the UAE is a result of partnerships \u2013 there are over 200 nationalities living here and each has had a part to play in creating our current success story. We believe in strong networks and dialogue to improve our status, both within the country and across the world with partners and friends such as the EU. We know the value of building relationships and working together to adapt international best practices to work in our unique context\u2013 going at tough challenges alone is not productive, working together is the key.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n European Tribute<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The European Parliament delegation requested to strengthen cooperation with the UAE Gender Balance Council and has extended an invitation to Her Excellency Mona Al Marri to visit and present the UAE\u2019s successful experience in supporting women and advancing gender balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A delegation of members from the European Parliament, headed by Anna Michel, Member of the European Parliament and Vice Chair of the Committee on International Trade, expressed great admiration at the UAE\u2019s successes to date in supporting women and advancing gender balance.
