Abu Dhabi Festival Announces EDEN World Tour By Accomplished Mezzo-Soprano Joyce DiDonato

As part of its 19th edition held under the theme ‘Crafting the Emirates State of Mind: Creation, Innovation & Joy’, Abu Dhabi Festival announces the “EDEN” World Tour by the accomplished mezzo-soprano and one of the biggest opera stars, Joyce DiDonato, between 2 March and 24 April 2022, during which she leads a series of performances across the US, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

The world premiere in Belgium is not only the beginning of an extensive tour, but of an inspiring movement aimed at bringing global audiences together to reconnect with nature and witness its beauty through music”

Two-time Grammy-winner; Two Gramophone Artist of Year and four times ECHO Klassik Award winner, Joyce DiDonato takes audiences on an emotional journey, performed by the unique historically informed instrumentation of orchestra il Pomo d’Oro with French stage director Marie Lambert-Le Bihan.

The European Tour begins on March 2 and runs until March 27, with performances at the prestigious Henry Le Boeuf Hall in Bozar-Brussels, Philharmonie of Luxembourg, Arnhem MusisStadstheater, Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Musikkens Hus of Aalborg in Denmark, Elbphilharmonie of Hamburg, Vienna Konzerthaus, MUPA Hall in Budapest Hungary, Zaryadye Hall in Moscow, and the Philharmonic Hall in St Petersburg.

Between April 15-24, DiDonato performs in the US, UK and Ireland, starting from the Barbican Centre in London through to the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Folly Theater in Kansas City, Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Harris Theatre in Chicago, The Royal Conservatory in Toronto, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Music Centre at Strathmore in Washington.

The 19th edition of Abu Dhabi Festival 2022 is held under the theme “Crafting an Emirates State of Mind: Creation, Innovation & Joy’, is being held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha ShamsaBint Hamdan Al Nahyan, Assistant to His Highness the President of the Authority for Women’s Affairs, and Chairperson of the Higher Committee for Ataya Initiative, with support from its lead partner Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) and energy partner GS Energy.

The 2022 Abu Dhabi Festival programme is part of the contribution that the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation makes to the UAE capital’s designation as a UNESCO City of Music, further bolstering its role as a world leading musical center and incubator of an innovation-based resilient and sustainable music ecosystem. Abu Dhabi Festival 2022 encompasses over 1,000 participating artists from around the world to present more than 300 live and digital events. The 19th edition will also include two world tours and 17 world premiers.
